Many Variations, one meaning

The Rebel Loon is a depiction of Minnesota’s state bird that is modeled after the Emblem of the Rebel Alliance (Star Wars). It is a grassroots design created and adapted by members of the public and has been amplified to symbolize Minnesota’s resistance to government overreach and federal occupation, namely, fascism.

What does The Rebel Loon Signify?
An idea reborn from the Minnesota state bird, the Common Loon, the Rebel Loon is a symbol of the strength and temerity that is derived from the power of the people. It stands for the dutiful resistance to tyranny through collective action by representing strength through diversity, defiance through decency, progress through solidarity, and – above all – hope as the ministry of resistance. It promises a future not guided by the will of the few, but by the voice of the many.

Who does the Rebel Loon Represent?
The Rebel Loon stands for more than just the Good people of Minnesota, it is the representation of all Good people everywhere. Good are those who are the helpers, the listeners, and the doers. The Good people who make decisions based on truth and evidence, even when emotions run high. Good who are the people who learn from their mistakes and try to be better, and who apologize because they want to, not because they have to. Good knows it is not perfect, but Good is accountable. Good is capable of change, and everyone is capable of being Good.

How Can I embody the Rebel Loon?
Through resistance and hope. Resist by attending a protest, march, or vigil, delivering groceries, documenting public activities, or volunteering your time or money to your community. You can even resist just by talking to your friends, family, and neighbors. And then – there’s hope. Spread hope by sharing positive stories, the wins (no matter how small), share acts of courage and moments of resiliency. Know that some days will be harder than others, and that, sometimes, simply making it through your day is both an act of resistance and of hope.
